Griffin, Luck, Mathieu among five Heisman finalists

And then there were five.

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, Alabama running back Trent Richardson, Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, LSU defensive back/punt returner Tyrann Mathieu and Wisconsin running back Montee Ball were announced as Heisman finalists Monday.

The Heisman Trophy will be awarded for the 77th time Saturday night in New York.

Here are some key stats:

Griffin:

36 passing touchdowns, six interceptions, 3,998 passing yards

Nine rushing touchdowns, 644 rushing yards (4.0 yards per carry)

Richardson:

20 rushing touchdowns, 1,583 rushing yards (6.0 yards per carry)

Three receiving touchdowns, 327 receiving yards

Luck:

35 passing touchdowns, nine interceptions, 3,170 passing yards

Two rushing touchdowns, 153 rushing yards (3.6 yards per carry)

Mathieu:

Leads LSU in tackles (70), has forced six fumbles (recovered five)

Two interceptions, two punt returns for touchdowns

Ball:

32 rushing touchdowns, 1,759 rushing yards (6.4 yards per carry)

Six receiving touchdowns, 255 receiving yards
