Google Doodle celebrates Houdini's birthday

Google is celebrating illusionist Harry Houdini's 137th birthday with a Google Doodle on the Google homepage today that looks like a vintage poster of Houdini with a chain draped across his shoulders.

The clickable image takes you to a Google search results page with the Wikipedia entry on Houdini, a collection of images, links to articles and more.

The U.K.'s Mirror has a fun blog post listing "10 things you need to know" about Houdini, who was born Erich Weiss on March 24, 1874.

Various posts around the Web tick off some of Houdini's more notable escapes, including the Chinese Water Torture Cell, in which he was suspended upside-down in a locked glass-and-steel cabinet full to overflowing with water, according to a description on Wikipedia.
