Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson is getting more White House help in his bid for a third term.

Vice President Biden will head to Florida next week to help his former Senate colleague raise money for a 2012 campaign, according to news reports by the St. Petersburg Times and other organizations.

President Obama helped boost Nelson's campaign coffers this month.

A statewide poll by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research shows Nelson to be vulnerable. Nelson failed to get 50% against several GOP candidates, according to the survey taken Feb. 9-10.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee says Biden's help shows Nelson faces election trouble.

"This is the second time in March alone that Senator Nelson has called on the Obama White House to help fill his campaign coffers -- a sure sign of Nelson's vulnerability, " said Chris Bond, NRSC press secretary, "and yet another reminder to Floridians that ... Nelson has repeatedly prioritized President Obama's costly liberal agenda over the best interests of Florida's families and job-creators."

The St. Petersburg Times reports one of the Nelson fundraisers in Tampa will cost donors $100 per head and $5,000 per co-host. Another event at the home of Alan Ginsburg, a developer, asks for a minimum donation of $500 to Nelson.
