New York Red Bulls 2, D.C. United 0

WASHINGTON (AP) — Thierry Henry scored in his first start in a month, and defender Jamison Olave added a goal in the New York Red Bulls' 2-0 victory over D.C. United on Saturday night.

Henry, back at full strength after a knee injury, opened the scoring in the 29th minute, and Olave scored in the 36th to help New York (2-3-2) win for the first time in its last five tries at RFK Stadium dating to April 2011. The teams played to scoreless draw March 16.

United dropped to 1-4-1. The Washington club has scored only two goals and been shutout four times. It has lost two straight at home after a 17-game unbeaten run.

On the opening goal, Dax McCarty created space, and found Henry outside the box. The Frenchman faked to his right, cut back left, came back to his right and slotted a perfect ball into the bottom right corner. United goalie Bill Hamid dove to his left but it was too late.

"I took my decision pretty quickly. I tried to execute it and the ball went in," Henry said about his second goal of the season.

After starting the first three games of the season for New York, Henry didn't play in the Red Bulls' 1-0 loss to Montreal. The former Arsenal star came off the bench in a victory over Philadelphia and loss to Chicago, playing a combined total of 60 minutes. Henry did, however score his first goal of the season in that win over the Union.

New York had four corner kicks in the first half, using the third to double the lead.

Taking a short corner, Juninho played the ball to Henry. Henry sent the ball right back to Juninho, who whipped in a shot that was redirected first by Brandon Barklage before Olave slotted it past Hamid into the back of the net. It was the defender's third goal of the season and second in two games.

"I'm very happy. I've never scored goals in consecutive games, but more importantly than the goal is the three points," Olave said through a translator.

FC Dallas 1, Los Angeles Galaxy 0

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — George John's brave headed goal in the 87th minute lifted FC Dallas to a 1-0 victory over 10-man Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night, and kept Dallas perfect at home.

John directed a header into the left corner from less than 5 yards, then hit the back of his head on the right post, opening a cut.

After a quiet first half the game exploded to life in the 60th minute when Leonardo was given a red card after bundling over Blas Perez inside the penalty area, forcing the Galaxy to play a man short the rest of the game.

Los Angeles' Carlo Cudicini stopped Kenny Cooper's penalty kick, making a diving save to swat away the shot from the left corner of the net to keep the short-handed Galaxy level.

Nine minutes later, Los Angeles had a penalty of their own but Landon Donovan's attempt was too straight and Dallas goalkeeper Raul Fernandez slid a few feet to his left to deflect the ball away to safety.

It was Donovan's first MLS start of the season. He took an extended leave of absence following MLS Cup 2012 in December and made his season debut against Toronto FC on March 30 as a second-half substitute.

The victory keeps Dallas at the top of the Western Conference six points clear of Chivas USA, with Los Angeles third on 8 points.

Vancouver Whitecaps 1, Real Salt Lake 1

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Camilo scored on a penalty kick in the 84th minute to help the Vancouver Whitecaps tie Real Salt Lake 1-1 on Saturday.

Camilo scored after having four shots stopped in the first half as the Whitecaps (2-2-2) earned a point in their first home game since March 9.

"I just wanted to score — to find the net again," Camilo said after scoring for the first time this year. "This is very good for me."

Vancouver received the penalty kick after defender Nat Borchers went to field the ball in the box, but accidentally fell and got his hand it.

Second-half substitute Olmes Garcia opened the scoring for Salt Lake (2-3-2) in the 66th minute.

"We got a point on the road, a crucial point where we haven't had the best results on the road," said Salt Lake goalkeeper Rimando, whose team is 1-3-1 away from home. "To come here, it's a tough place to play, but I thought we stuck in there and we're happy with the point. I thought the second half was much better than the first."

Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis credited his goalkeeper.

"Rimando's just been electrifying for us since the beginning of this year," Kreis said. "Typically, he takes a little longer to get going, but he's been amazing. He's kept us in multiple games now and given us a chance to pick up points, so hats off to him."

Seattle Sounders 0, New England Revolution 0

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Sounders failed to deliver on coach Sigi Schmid's victory guarantee, tying the New England Revolution 0-0 on Saturday despite dominating most of the play.

In remarks to reporters Friday, Schmid promised that the Sounders (0-3-2), off to the worst start in the five-year history of the franchise, would win for the first time this season.

The Sounders have scored only two goals, and both of those scorers — Eddie Johnson (hamstring) and Brad Evans (calf) — were sidelined with injuries Saturday.

New England (1-2-2) has gone without a goal for four-plus games totaling 388 minutes since scoring in the 62nd minute of a season-opening 1-0 victory at Chicago on March 9.

Seattle dominated both halves, outshooting the Revolution 13-5. The Sounders were especially dangerous during the first half when they got off eight shots.

Two of those came within a minute of each other. Steve Zakuani broke toward the top right corner of New England's 6-yard box to get on the end of a well-placed cross by Lamar Neagle, but goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth blocked it over the goal line midway through the 14th minute.

On the ensuing corner kick, the ball wound up at the feet of Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso to the right of the arc, but his shot went barely over the crossbar, skimming across the top of the netting.

Zakuani had another point-blank try early in the 44th minute, but Shuttleworth saved it with his foot.

Philadelphia Union 1, Toronto FC 1

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Jack McInerney scored in the second minute of stoppage time to give the Philadelphia Union a 1-1 tie with Toronto FC on Saturday.

McInerney, who leads the Union with four goals, scored about 4 minutes after Toronto FC's Ashtone Morgan was ejected with a red card. Morgan accumulated two yellow cards and was sent off in the 88th minute.

The Union is 2-2-2, and Toronto 1-2-3.

Toronto opened the scoring in the 71st minute when Robert Earnshaw scored his fifth goal of the season, tying him for first in the league with the Los Angeles Galaxy's Mike Magee.

From there, it became quite chippy with physical play from both clubs.

When Morgan was ejected, the Union seemed to be energized. In fact, second-year forward Antoine Hoppenot had a chance to score in the waning seconds. Hoppenot broke free and took a shot from 10 feet away, but he was stymied by goalkeeper Joseph Bendik.

Colorado Rapids 1, Chivas USA 0

CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Rookie Deshorn Brown scored on a penalty kick in the 7th minute and the Colorado Rapids held on for a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA on Saturday night.

Brown converted from the penalty spot after he was knocked over by Eric Avila in Chivas' box when he took a pass from Dillon Powers. The Rapids (2-3-2), missing six top players due to injury, won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Chivas USA (3-2-1) missed a penalty kick near the end of the first half, struggled to create scoring chances and lost for the first time in five games.

Chivas could have tied it after Jose Erick Correa was knocked down by Shane O'Neill as he leaped for a short cross from Laurent Courtois, but Correa fired off the crossbar, and Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin got low to save Carlos Alvarez's rebound from 19 yards.
