Video premiere: Amy Grant's hits get mega-mixed

Special for USA TODAY
Amy Grant will release her first remix album, "In Motion: The Remixes," on Aug. 19.

Come take a trip back in time with Amy Grant.

A video for a new Mega Mix of the six-time Grammy winner's biggest hits premieres at USA TODAY. It starts with an amped-up version of her 1991 chart-topper Baby Baby playing on multiple screens before spinning off into chopped-up flashbacks of the six-time Grammy winner's biggest hits and best '80s and '90s outfits, including the black-and-white leopard-print tuxedo jacket from the cover of 1985's Unguarded album. Plus, there's the hair — oh, the hair.

Included as a bonus cut on Grant's just-released In Motion: The Remixes, the nearly-9-minute Mega Mix encompasses three decades of Grant's career, from 1985's Find a Way to 2009's Better Than a Hallelujah. It also includes her three top-10 pop hits from 1991 — Baby Baby, Every Heartbeat and That's What Love Is For.

"Mixing the medley really was a labor of love — quality songs remixed to a high standard made for a very polished-sounding and club-friendly mega-mix," says DJ Andy 7th Heaven. "I think DJs will love it."

In Motion includes 10 mixes of Grant's hits. A Dave Audé remix of Baby Baby recently reached the top 10 of Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart.

"I love the current remix sensibilities being applied to those old songs," Grant says. "I thought they breathed incredible new life into nostalgic melodies. It was amazing to me that they could take well-known lines and re-create a whole new sonic structure.

"In the last several years, the majority of the music that I have produced has been more reflective. ... I never dreamed at 53 that I would be a part of a music production that felt so youthful and made you want to dance. It's great to want to dance again!"
