Photo of 2 Chainz and arresting officers gets attention

2 Chainz arrives at the 55th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

A photograph of rapper 2 Chainz with two troopers is being investigated by Maryland State Police.

The picture was taken when the rapper, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, was taken into custody after the car he was traveling in Thursday night on his way to a concert was stopped for speeding. During the stop, troopers found marijuana in the vehicle. 2 Chainz was cited for possession of marijuana and released.

The booking made him late to the scheduled concert at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, reports WJZ TV.

The photo with the two unidentified officers in question was posted to the Grammy-nominated rapper's Twitter feed and Instagram. It quickly raised some eyebrows among authorities. "The photos are being looked into administratively and we'll see if any violation took place," Sgt. Marc Black of the Maryland State Police told the Daily Times of Salisbury.

According to the Associated Press, the citation carries up to a year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.

Meanwhile, the photo is popular on Instagram, with more than 46,400 "likes." 2 Chainz message accompanying the picture? "Locked me up then wanted pictures smh." "SMH" is short for "shaking my head."

Yes, even the rapper was surprised.
