TV tonight: 'Legends,' 'Modern Family'

Sean Bean stars in TNT's new drama, "Legends."

Legends
TNT, 9 ET/PT

It figures that the one project in which Sean Bean doesn't die is the one you should be least interested in watching — another underwhelming TNT effort that only serves to assemble every undercover cop trope in one handy spot. (See if you can't guess what the estranged wife is going to say tonight before she says it.) It's possible had Legends aired in 2011 when NBC ordered it, the show might have felt fresher. Now, however, it just seems like a waste of Bean's talents and our desire to see his character survive for once.

Modern Family
ABC, 9:30 ET/PT

There are those who feel Modern Family lost a step this season, but anyone who doubts it's still capable of an ingeniously constructed, laugh-out-loud, slamming-door farce should take a look at tonight's repeat. Great guest turns by Fred Armisen and Stephen Merchant add to the pleasure of this Vegas trip, as Gloria's determination to keep Jay from buying a female version of his dog butler kicks off a hilarious string of mistaken identity mishaps.

The Untold Story of 007
BBC America 11:30 ET/PT

Well, actually, it's been told a lot, but if you're a Bond fan, you may not mind hearing it again. Now let's hope it includes a study guide for Quantum of Solace (9 ET/PT), which is otherwise as near-indecipherable as the title suggests.
