Kris Humphries' 5 greatest moments in 28 years of life

Adi Joseph, USA TODAY Sports
"Happy Birthday, Kris Humphries!" -- Kobe

Kris Humphries turns 28 today. We wouldn't celebrate a random NBA player's birthday normally, but this is Kris Humphries, Brooklyn Nets forward and man of the world.

So unlike Kobe Bryant dunking on him last night, or Avery Johnson cutting his minutes, or Rajon Rondo pushing him and cutting his shoulder, or Kanye West impregnating his ex, or Kanye West threatening to get him fired, or Kanye West potentially complicating his divorce case, or Kanye West being name-dropped in a dis tweet by J.R. Smith, we're going to remember the good times for Kris Humphries.

1. "The Incredible Hump"

The Nets pushed Humphries for Most Improved Player in 2010-11.

What you see above is an advertising campaign the Nets, then still in New Jersey, used to try to get Humphries some publicity and recognition for his breakthrough 2010-11 season. That is not a joke. They made Humphries' skin green. And they used that headline. This page still is available on the Nets' website. The bid was unsuccessful, which is a travesty.

2. "Yeah, a cool guy"

Humphries is a cool guy, which is why he was willing to let himself be the butt of a joke in this new Foot Locker commercial. Houston Rockets guard James Harden might be known as the NBA's coolest guy, but Humphries shows he's willing to laugh at his public image, no matter what Kanye does to him next.

3. The referee block

In one of the greatest moments of this NBA season, referee Courtney Kirkland decided he needed to block Humphries' foul shot. Read here for all the details and a video.

4. Kim Kardashian

Humphries and Kim Kardashian are seen in New York on Sept. 10, 2011.

Kanye can say what he wants, but Humphries had her first and got a semi-real commitment out of her, to boot. And he boosted his Q score in ways most low-scoring power forwards can't imagine with his appearances on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

5. Rebounding

Humphries is really good at rebounding. After averaging more than 10 a game the past two seasons, his minutes have declined this year because of Andray Blatche. For his career, he averages 11.1 rebounds per 36 minutes. In his one year as a Minnesota Golden Gopher, he led the Big Ten Conference by averaging 10.1 rebounds a game.

All the best, Kris Humphries. And may your next 28 years be as good as your first.
