Song premiere: Andy Davis' 'Every Inch'

Andy Davis' Every Inch, premiering exclusively at USA TODAY, is one of three songs on his newest EP, To Be Cruel, out May 6.

Davis says this EP is more of a "first installment toward a bunch of other music" that he hopes to release later this year.

"It's pretty common to just put out little groups of songs as opposed to doing a big proper album and then waiting two years and doing (another) big proper album," he adds.

The singer/songwriter says audiences are capable of understanding more sophisticated music than much of today's mainstream fare gives them credit for. "My goal is to make music that's accessible but also raises the status quo of what's out there," he says.

His music continues to mature. "I'm progressing forward a little bit and trying to work with more sounds and aesthetics and vibes and moods," he says.
