Oregon Duck loses head in skydiving stunt (VIDEO)

College Football Analyst Lee Corso puts on the Oregon Duck mascot head in this 2007 photo. The Duck lost its head in a stunt gone wrong Friday.

The Oregon Duck can be seen doing some outrageous things, mainly crowd surfing and dancing ridiculously in viral Gangnam Style dance videos.

But Friday, the decorated mascot upped the ante and checked off a daring stunt in the "cool mascot things to do list."

Enter skydiving.

With ESPN's College GameDay making its way to Eugene this week for the Oregon-Stanford showdown, the mascot took part in an exhibition series for a skydiving stunt, according to KVAL.

Needless to say, the result was hilarious. The person in the Duck costume lost its head during the jump. Yes, the Duck head fell off (OUR PETS' HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!)

Anyway, please watch the video courtesy our friends at Big Lead Sports and laugh. A lot.

We noted on our Tumblr page that GameDay host Chris Fowler tweeted the bizarre incident yesterday and now we know what to make of it.

The best part is that the mascot head was lost for a short time frame before it was found. Allow us to take the time to nominate Fowler for the Pulitzer for his incredible reporting via Twitter.

"BREAKING NEWS; The ORE Duck head is missing. While skydiving today, it came loose & plummeted to earth. A search is ongoing. No joke."

"BREAKING NEWS: ORE Duck head has been recovered. In one piece. A good samaritan happened upon it and returned it. Crisis averted."

Sorry to the readers who actually thought the Oregon Duck lost its actual head. But what are we supposed to call it? A helmet? Seriously. The Duck also lost his (costume) feet, if it means anything.
