House Democrats wasted no time seizing on the latest campaign fundraising news, sending out a plea for cash after it became clear Mitt Romney beat President Obama in the July race for money.
"You and I both know that Mitt Romney will sell America out if he becomes President -- giving more tax breaks to his Big Oil and billionaire backers," says Robby Mook, executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, in the fundraising e-mail.
MORE: Team Romney raises more than Team Obama
Romney and the Republican National Committee announced today they raised $101.3 million last month, more than $26 million above what President Obama and his Democratic allies took in during July. It's the third straight month that Team Romney has outpaced Team Obama, whose pleas for campaign cash have become increasingly urgent.
The DCCC fundraising pitch links to a page where donors can contribute $20 or more to support Obama's agenda. House Democrats need a net gain of 25 seats to reclaim majority control.
