UNC's helmet is basically one big foot

Paul Myerberg, USA TODAY Sports
North Carolina is wearing some interesting helmets.

See UNC put a foot on its helmet. Then see UNC put its foot down on rival North Carolina State.

First, the helmet. The Tar Heels broke out a new look for Saturday's game against the Wolfpack: silver-blue – teal, perhaps? – with a foot where you'd usually see the interlocking "N" and "C" for North Carolina.

As you can see, there's tar on the heel of the foot. It's… different.

It's a foot. A tar-heeled foot. It's also a bit large, crooked and misshapen. While an image used in connection with the state of North Carolina for some time, the foot looks strange on a helmet.

Hey, whatever works. Last year, UNC was shut out 13-0 at North Carolina State. Through a quarter today, the Tar Heels hold a 25-7 lead.

Wait for it … UNC is putting its best foot forward against its in-state rival. Running back Gio Bernard really moved his feet on his first touchdown run. The Wolfpack really need to get their feet under themselves in the second quarter. I'm done.
