283-pound Mets pitcher grounds out, entertains everyone

Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon doesn’t exactly look like most professional athletes. He’ll turn 41 in May, he’s listed at 5’11” and 283 pounds, and he appears, well, every bit of that.

That hasn’t stopped him from being a very good Major League pitcher, using his remarkable fastball command to post a 3.33 ERA over 513 innings since his unlikely comeback from arm injuries in 2011.

But it does make it particularly entertaining whenever Colon comes to bat, which he’ll do far more often now that he’s back in the National League for the first time since 2002. Colon went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in his loss to the Nationals on Wednesday night, and the Internet rejoiced:

Colon actually managed to make contact in his first at-bat off Gio Gonzalez, something roughly 99.9-percent of humanity probably never could do. Even he seemed pretty thrilled by it:
