Randy Moss makes ex-NFL player eat his own words

49ers wide receiver Randy Moss sprints to the endzone in front of Cardinals linebacker Sam Acho on Monday night.

Randy Moss hasn't been an integral part of the San Francisco 49ers offense all season. And truth be told, that continued to be the case during Monday night's 24-3 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Yet as we watched the ESPN broadcast of Monday Night Football, Jon Gruden kept trying to convince us that Moss could still be a factor, even at age 35, and even though the 49ers had thrown his way just 10 times all season.

Former NFL running back Derrick Ward, watching the game somewhere, heard Gruden and was flabbergasted by his words.

"John Gruden is trying his hardest to keep Randy Moss relevant on Monday nite but he's done he's only been thrown to 10 times this year!", Ward tweeted.

Funny Ward would choose to go there, because approximately 35 minutes later Alex Smith connected with Moss on a 47-yard touchdown catch-and-run that was more run, with Moss showing pep in his step, juking defenders before sprinting to the end zone.

After that play Ward was back on Twitter singing a different tune.

"Ok I just sounded stupid talking about Randy Moss a few minutes ago," Ward tweeted. "After that run and score ill never doubt him again!"

Make that Jon Gruden 1, Derrick Ward 0.

Now if only the 49ers involved Moss more often …
