Springsteen, McCartney concert cut short by organizers

The nerve!

Concert organizers at London's Hyde Park pulled the plug on rock royalty Saturday night.

Paul McCartney joined Bruce Springsteen on stage at the end of Springsteen's gig, but organizers silenced their microphones before the duo could address the crowd.

Reports indicate that the Boss had gone past the 10:30 p.m. curfew by 30 minutes when McCartney joined him on stage. The pair sang I Saw Her Standing There and Twist and Shout, but neither musician had the chance to address the crowd and left the stage in silence.

CNN International reports that as Springsteen and McCartney were winding up Twist and Shout, the sound suddenly dampened, and went quiet. At first, Springsteen didn't seem to notice. He attempted to address the crowd, apparently unaware that they couldn't hear him.

E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt wasn't happy. He tweeted: "Is there just too much fun in the world? We would have been off by 11 if we'd done one more. On a Saturday night! Who were we disturbing?"

He continued to vent later via Twitter: "I'm sorry but I have to be honest I'm (expletive). Like I said, it didn't ruin the great night. But when I'm jamming with McCartney don't bug me!"
