The video for the String Cheese Incident's So Far From Home, premiering exclusively at USA TODAY, features the group's recording process at work, in addition to the song.

"We rehearsed at a recording studio. ... We tacked on four days of recording time to the end of the rehearsal and that's when we recorded all the tracks, the basics for the album," says Bill Nershi, who sings and plays guitar for the group. "We filmed everything and just thought that that kind of stuff is interesting for people to see how it comes together."

Going to a String Cheese concert is "like going to a three-day festival," Nershi says. "You get a lot of different kinds of music. Each show is very different from the one before."

The String Cheese Incident's Song In My Head, out April 29, will be the group's first studio album in nine years.

The band had been together for close to 15 years when the members decided to split in 2007 to go their separate ways, ultimately reuniting two years later.

"Things felt a lot fresher, personal relationships were a lot better, we were a lot more willing to not push each other's buttons — after 15 years together you know exactly how to push each other's buttons," he says.

Nershi adds, "We realized that it's better to let a lot of stuff slide and not dig into each other too much and just enjoy it. We've been enjoying the music a lot more since."
