Sarah Palin is going to make a rare appearance on the campaign trail this week for Senate candidate Ted Cruz in Texas.
Palin and Sen. Jim DeMint, both favorites of the Tea Party movement, are slated to attend a get-out-the-vote rally for Cruz in the Houston suburbs Friday night, Cruz says on his website.
Cruz faces Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in a runoff Tuesday for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. The Texas GOP Senate race has become a party establishment vs. Tea Party fight, Dewhurst getting Texas Gov. Rick Perry's support and Cruz winning the backing of supporters of the small-government movement.
Democrats Paul Sadler and Grady Yarbrough are in a runoff for their party's Senate nomination. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, a Republican, is retiring.
Palin has been weighing in on key Senate races this year, and various candidates have announced they have the support of the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee through news releases.
