While I love downloading novels to my Kindle, sometimes I prefer shorter pieces (particularly the "Kindle Singles") for my commute.
This week Rhino Entertainment launched a series of "quick read" pop-culture e-books that are the perfect length for subway rides and lunch breaks.
So far the books cover such bands as the Beastie Boys, the Grateful Dead and Duran Duran. Rhino has kicked off the series by offering one e-book for free: Musician Binky Philips' My Life in the Ghost of Planets: The Story of A CBGB Almost-Was.
You can grab your free download of Philips' tale on Amazon or iTunes. Rhino's other offerings are only $1.99 each; I'm particularly curious about Christopher Weingarten's contribution, Every Day I Take A Wee: The Beastie Boys And The Untimely Death of Suburban Folklore. He chats about it below:
Keep an eye on Rhino's site for extra features and new additions to the series.
