Like many men, President Obama has fond memories of his first car -- even if it was a Ford Granada.
"I have to confess; my first car was my grandfather's car," Obama told AAA in an interview. "Which was a Ford Granada."
While the Ford Motor Co. "is doing great now," Obama said, the Granada "was not the peak of Detroit engineering."
"It rattled and it shook," Obama said. "And I don't think the girls were particularly impressed when I came to pick them up in a Ford Granada."
AAA spoke with Obama about rising gas prices, but, as it does with many interview subjects, asked the president about his first car.
The Granada wasn't fancy, but did have its uses, the president reported.
"You know what?" Obama told AAA. "It moved, and so I have fond memories of the fact that it got me to where I needed to go. That's about all I can say about the Ford Granada."
Obama also said: "I was an AAA member for years, up until they (Secret Service) told me I couldn't drive anymore."
