UFC Fight Night 116 play-by-play and live results

PITTSBURGH – MMAjunkie is on scene and reporting live from today's UFC Fight Night 116 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT).

The event takes place at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, and the entire 10-bout lineup airs on FS1. In the main event, former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold (15-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) takes on ex-WSOF two-division champ David Branch (21-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC).

Follow along with our round-by-round updates and official results beginning at approximately 8 p.m. ET for the prelims and 10 p.m. ET for the main card, both of which air on FS1.

Jason Saggo vs. Gilbert Burns

Round 1 - Burns is pressing the action and early on is landing solid kicks. Saggo is attempting to close the range. During a clinch exchange Burns lands a hard knee to the jaw of the Canadian. Burns is very active with his kicks. Saggo catches one and trips Burns to the ground. Saggo is standing overtop Burns and landing peppering leg kicks. Burns eventually stands up and comes forward with a double leg takedown. He finds a way to keep Saggo on the ground. Burns climbs to the back but can't threaten too much before the bell. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Burns.

Round 2 – Saggo is targeting with overhand punches and front kicks early in the round. Saggo pushes forward with combinations. Burns attempts another takedown but Saggo easily pushes him off. Saggo trips Burns off another caught kick and is again standing over him throwing kicks. The referee stands Burns up and he lands a right hand down the middle. Both men are throwing and landing frequently. Body kicks are a big weapon from each side. Burns lands a pair of hard right hands before getting deep on the legs for a takedown. He picks Saggo up and slams him to the canvas and ends up in the guard. Saggo is near the fence and is working to stand up. He eventually does and attempts to trip Burns. It's unsuccessful and why break free into striking range. Saggo is pressing forward but Burns counters are on point. The 10-second horn sounds and Burns fires off a massive overhand right that lands flush on the chin. Saggo falls backward to the mat and is out cold. Beautiful knockout.

Krzysztof Jotko vs. Uriah Hall

Round 1 - Jotko is pushing forward with the hands and applying a lot of pressure on Hall. Jotko stings him with an uppercut and Hall is moving back. Hall attempts a flying knee but it misses. Jotko is forcing Hall to move backward. Hall lands an inside leg kick followed by a front kick to the body. Jotko lands another hard uppercut. Hall is hurt. Jotko with a huge flurry uppercuts and Hall is in survival mode. Hall drops to the canvas but gets back up. Jotko lands more shots then drags Hall to the ground. He is landing massive blows from half guard before stepping over into mount. Hall gives up his back and Jotko works for the rear-naked choke. He gives it up in favor of more punches but Hall stands up. Jotko stays on the back and attempts to sink in the rear-naked choke. Hall falls backward but fights out of the choke. Hall somehow scrambles free but is breathing heavy. Jotko is still pouring it on but eats a left hand that causes him to back up. He moves forward again and can't put Hall away. Huge round. MMAjunkie scores it 10-8 for Jotko.

Round 2 – Hall looks somewhat recovered to begin the round. He pushes Jotko away with front kicks to the body. Jotko lunges forward with an uppercut that lands. Hall is more active with his kicks. He throws consecutive spinning wheel kicks, both of which miss the target. Jotko pressures but Hall is doing a better job of being evasive. Hall comes forward with a straight punch that lands. Hall is finding more success in the exchanges and is the one leading the offense. Hall lands a massive overhand right that floors Jotko. What a comeback that snaps Hall's three-fight losing skid.

Anthony Hamilton vs. Daniel Spitz

Round 1 - They circle the cage. Hamilton pushes forward is greeted by an overhand right to the temple. He falls forward. Spitz gets on top and lands a flurry of punches to the side of the head. The referee steps in and the fight is over. Quick heavyweight fight.

Tony Martin vs. Olivier Aubin-Mercier

Round 1 - Martin is attacking early on with leg kicks. The crowd is chanting U-S-A. Martin continues to kick. Aubin-Mercier fires back with some of his own. Aubin-Mercier is using his reach to land his right hand. Both men are only throwing single strikes at a time. Aubin-Mercier just misses with a head kick. After she more exchanges Aubin-Mercier finally shoots for his first takedown. He doesn't get it but pins Martin against the fence. Martin turns the position around and is now controlling the position. Martin lands short punches and knees. Aubin-Mercier methodically gets good foot position and trips Martin to the ground. Aubin-Mercier lands in half guard but as soon as he postures up Martin scrambles to his feet. They trade slapping strikes for the final seconds of the round. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Aubin-Mercier.

Round 2 – Aubin-Mercier is fighting with more urgency on the feet early. He nearly connects with a head kick before shooting for another takedown. Martin defends well but finds he back against the cage. Aubin-Mercier works another trip and it works. Martin is on his back and attempting to recover guard. Martin attempts to scramble free but Aubin-Mercier is strong on top and keep his position. Aubin-Mercier is throwing infrequent punches and appears more concerned with the keeping position. He eventually dives in with a punch that allows him to briefly take side control. Martin gets guard position back and finds an opening to return to his feet. Aubin-Mercier keeps Martin's back against the fence and easily scores another trip. Aubin-Mercier is becoming increasingly dominate from on top and Martin is hardly attempting to stand up. Aubin-Mercier rides out the position for the remainder of the round. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Aubin-Mercier.

Round 3 – Martin showing some desperation to open the second. He lands some nice punches before Aubin-Mercier shoots for a takedown. Martin sprawls and pulls guards into a guillotine choke. He transition to a D'Arce choke, but Aubin-Mercier defends it. They get into a scramble and Martin ends up on the back. Martin is working to threaten with a rear-naked choke, but Aubin-Mercier knows how to defend the position. Martin is landing short punches but nothing with much of a damaging effect. Martin remains in the same position, throwing punches, until the final bell. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Martin. He may fall just short of a decision.

Zu Anyanwu vs. Justin Ledet

Round 1 - Anyanwu is stalking Ledet to open the fight, but he's yet to pull the trigger. Ledet pumps the jab to keep his opponent at range. Anyanwu fires off a hook to the body. Ledet lands a straight right hand. There is low volume coming from both sides, as both are cautious of the power. Ledet is looking to counter but is mixing in the jab. They begin to open up with some combinations and Ledet lands a pair of hard right hands. Ledet is beginning to find his range but the pace of the fight is still slow. Anyanwu, who took the fight on short notice, appears to be conserving his energy with a low output. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Ledet.

Round 2 – Anyanwu opens the round by getting Ledet in the collar-tie and landing a pair of short punches. Anyanwu is gaining confidence and starting to throw more often. Ledet is still tagging him with the jab and mixing in some hooks. Thee's not a ton on the punches but he is keeping Anyanwu from landing anything meaningful. Anyanwu charges forward with some heavy strikes but he can't land clean. Ledet's combinations are allowing him to easily control range. The crowd is beginning to grow tied at the lack of meaningful action. Anyanwu charges forward with overhands but Ledet is content to circle away rather than fire back. Ledet pumps more jabs and avoids a pair of counter attempts from Anyanwu. Both of Anyanwu's eyes are swelling shot from the repeated jabs. The round ends with a restless crowd. MMAjunkie scores it 10-9 for Ledet, who should be ahead 20-18.

Round 3 – Anyanwu displays a sense of urgency to start the round. He tags Ledet several times, forcing him to circle away. Anyanwu doesn't appear to be in much danger, though, and immediately returns to his game of throwing the jab. Anyanwu is still attacking but Ledet is able to defend everything coming at him. Ledet is doing little other than evading and answer back with jabs. Anyanwu keeps aggressive with his winging bunches and is by far having his best round. Anyanwu lands an overhand that forces Ledet to retreat once again. Anyanwu is doing his best to land something meaningful but Ledet is simply content to play defense and counter with jabs for the remainder of the round. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Anyanwu. Ledet should take a decision, but the crowd is not impressed.

Kamaru Usman vs. Sergio Moraes

Round 1 - Usman is landing her leg kicks early in the fight. He's applying a lot of pressure and lands a right hand that briefly drops Moraes. Usman urges him to stand back up and goes back to the leg kicks. Moraes is attempting to pull Usman into a brat but Usman is being careful keeping his range. Moraes lands an overhand right and eats a jab in response. Usman is pushing forward and absolutely blasts Moraes with an overhand. Moraes collapses face-first to the canvas and he's out cold. Usman steps in to throw another punch but the referee gets in before he can land clean.

Gregor Gillespie vs. Jason Gonzalez

Round 1 - Gonzalez comes out throwing big-time power. He lands a pair of hard head kicks that somehow Gillespie takes clean. Gillespie is keeping calm and he smokes Gonzalez with a brutal elbow which drops him to the canvas. Gillespie is on top throwing haymaker-style ground-and-pound. Gillespie is posturing up from the guard throwing punches. Gonzalez attempts to sweep and manages to get up. Both fighters are opening all the way up swinging for the fences. Gillespie decides to change levels for a takedown, and he gets it. Gillespie puts in good work on top and advances into the mount. Gonzalez uses the cage to push off and he gets free. Gonzalez lands another head kick but Gillespie eats it again. Gillespie shoots for another takedown, which again is good. He steps over into mount, but Gonzalez uses the fence to stand up. Gillespie lands another hard elbow but Gonzalez steps free and connects with a huge shot of his own. It's a slugfest again before Gillespie changes levels for the takedown. Gonzalez defends against the fence but eventually he's dragged down. Gillespie advances to half guard and is attempting to isolate a limb for a submission. He can't get it done before the end of the round. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Gillespie.

Round 2 – Gonzalez opens the round with a series of solid strikes, including a head kick and left hook. Gillespie immediately shoots for a takedown that puts Gonzalez on his back. Gillespie passes to mount and is working for an arm-triangle choke. Gonzalez is defending the submission attempts well but Gillespie is relentless from top position and keeps working for it. Gillespie keeps fighting to finish and after multiple adjustments he gets the choke in tight. Gonzalez's toughness is admirable but he has to tap out to the still unbeaten Gillespie.

Hector Lombard vs. Anthony Smith

Round 1 - Smith lands a right hand and a head kick open the fight. He throws another kick that's caught by Lombard. Lombard is throwing big strikes but the height and reach differential is a problem. Smith lands a hard punch but Lombard shows him no respect and charges forward. Smith slips off a kick and Lombard pounces on him. Smith is on his knees and avoids taking and heavy blows before standing up. Lombard lands a body kick. Lombard throws kicks to the legs before tagging Smith with a left hand. Lombard continues to pepper Smith's body and legs. Lombard lands a left hand during an exchanges and Smith is forced to back up. Smith is attempting to counter but he's feeling Lombard's power. Smith has a low output for the remainder of the round and takes some hard leg kicks before the horn. MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Lombard.

Round 2 – Lombard goes back to leg kicks to start the round. Smith is beginning to use straight punches before coming up the middle with a knee. Lombard avoids the shot and attempts to clinch but he can't get ahold of Smith. Lombard fakes a leg kick then comes in with a combination. The pace slows significantly. Lombard is almost exclusively throwing leg kicks and Smith is clearly feeling them. Lombard ducks under a punch and takes Smith's back. He pushes Smith toward the fence and lands some knees to the thighs. Smith spins free and comes forward with a wild combination. Smith tags Lombard with a right hand. Smith is coming alive toward the end of the round and he staggers Lombard in the final 10 seconds of the round. Still, MMAjunkie scores the round 10-9 for Lombard.

Round 3 – Smith asks Lombard, "Do you know who I am yet?" before the round begins. He's pushing forward with punches but Lombard is avoiding most of his strikes. Smith is now the one throwing kicks. He tags Lombard with a clean shot, but Lombard plays it off. Lombard presses forward and gets back to his leg kick attack. Smith finds the perfect opening to land a huge counterpunch and it lands perfect on the chin. He connects with another one and Lombard goes down. It's another come-from-behind knockout by Smith!

Result: Anthony Smith def. Hector Lombard via TKO (punches) – Round 3, 2:33

Mike Perry vs. Alex Reyes

Round 1 - Perry is unsurprisingly the aggressor to start the fight. He eats a right hand on the counter. Perry attacks with a flying knee then lands a right hand that wobbles Reyes. They fight in the clinch and Perry is loading up on big elbows and knees. He's lands a massive shot from the clinch that puts Reyes down and out for the big KO.

Luke Rockhold vs. David Branch

Round 1 - Main event time. Dan Miragliotta will look in on the fight between a former UFC and Strikeforce champ (Rockhold) and a former two-division WSOF champ (Branch). Branch fires off a 1-2, then pushes Rockhold backward. Rockhold throws a high kick, then one to the body to get some space. Then he kicks down low. Branch lands a right hand with Rockhold moving outside, then clinches up. Not much of a feeling-out process at all. They break off after 15 seconds or so and Branch stays after Rockhold. He starts lighting him up along the fence. Rockhold's taking punches with his hands down. Branch lays off, then drops down and puts Rockhold on the canvas. He doesn't keep him there long; Rockhold gets back to his feet, but Branch keeps him tied up. Just about two minutes into the fight, Rockhold manages to turn things around and puts Branch's back on the fence. He lands a couple knees. They break off, but they quickly tie back up on the fence, and again it's Branch pushing Rockhold to the cage. Rockhold spins him again, then they break and go back to the center with about 90 seconds left. They trade low kicks, and again Branch lands a good right. Rockhold tries a counter left, then kicks to the inside lead left leg. Branch says he got poked in the eye, but Miragliotta isn't going to give him time and they push on. Out of nowhere, Rockhold tries a pretty jumping kick that glances. Branch tries to answer with another heavy right. But with 20 seconds left, Rockhold drags Branch down and tries to get some ground-and-pound off from his guard. That makes the round close, but MMAjunkie will give a tight one to Branch.

Round 2 – Rockhold keeps with the low kicks. And about 50 seconds in, Branch catches one and holds it long enough that he nearly catches Rockhold with a hard right. Rockhold tries a kick to the midsection, but soon enough Branch clinches up and they're on the fence again. Rockhold turns him around and they stay tied up on the cage. Rockhold tries to drop down midway through the round, but the takedown isn't there. Finally, Rockhold gets it 20 seconds later, and with two minutes left he very quickly jumps to full mount. Branch is quick to turn over, and Rockhold stays on him. He starts pounding away. Branch rolls over and Rockhold keeps the high mount. He gets a body triangle cinched up and keeps pounching. He's got lots of time to finish. Branch covers up and he's in a ton of trouble. This one's gonna be over. Miragliotta gets in there to shut it down. It's a big win for Rockhold in his first fight back since losing the middleweight title.
