NBA playoffs: Blake Griffin goes down; Rondo denies tripping Crowder

USA TODAY Sports
LA Clippers forward Blake Griffin (32) warms up prior to their game against the Utah Jazz in Game 3 of the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs.

Didn't catch all the action from Friday night's slate of first-round playoff games? We've got you covered.

Here's what you may have missed:

► Did Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo, who's likely going to miss the rest of the first-round series against Boston with a broken right thumb, try to trip Celtics forward Jae Crowder while he was sitting on the sidelines? It sure looked like it.

In the postgame news conference, Rondo said he was just stretching his leg, which was stiff because of the ACL injury he suffered back in 2013.

As far as the game was concerned, the Celtics rolled to a much-needed win to narrow the series deficit to 2-1. The Bulls, who only had 14 assists in the loss, sure could have used their starting point guard.

► Not again ... Blake Griffin went down in the second quarter of the Clippers' 111-106 win over the Jazz and Saturday morning the team announced he would be out for the remainder of the postseason. Going forward, is it possible that Griffin has played his final game of the Clippers?

Griffin was visibly frustrated after the injury, punching a chair before exiting for the locker room.

The Clippers were still able to prevail, fueled by a 15-0 run late in the fourth quarter led by Chris Paul.

Take note: Jazz forward Gordon Hayward had 21 points in the first quarter — a franchise playoff record. He finished with a career-high 40 points in the loss. We weren't the only ones who noticed.

"I've had a man crush on him for three years now and he continues to be great," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said of Hayward after the game.

► The MVP front-runners duked it out in Oklahoma City, but Russell Westbrook and the Thunder came out on top. James Harden, who scored a game-high 44 points, came oh so close to winning the game at the buzzer.

Speaking of Westbrook, Hall of Famer Jerry West called him 'a reincarnation of Michael Jordan.' High praise from The Logo.

Don't worry, the NBA action picks back up on Saturday afternoon. Here's what's on tap:

  • Toronto Raptors at Milwaukee Bucks (3 p.m. ET on TNT; Bucks lead 2-1)
  • Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks (5:30 p.m. ET on TNT; Wizards lead 2-0)
  • San Antonio Spurs at Memphis Grizzlies (8 p.m. ET on ESPN; Spurs lead 2-1)
  • Golden State Warriors at Portland Trail Blazers (10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN; Warriors lead 2-0)
