This past week was a big one for the NFL and Kansas City Chiefs football, so get caught up on the latest Chiefs news.
Chiefs’ 2017 draft class
After months of anticipation, the NFL draft finally came and went. Here’s the Chiefs’ 2017 draft class:

The Chiefs gave up several picks in order to get some of these guys, so needless to say this class has a lot to live up to.
No 2018 first-round pick for KC
Speaking of giving up picks, the Chiefs sent their 2018 first-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in order to move up and take Mahomes. That’s a big pick to ship away, so hopefully it’s worth it in the long run.
Chiefs UDFAs
Following the draft, the Chiefs brought in a nice chunk of undrafted free agents. Some were signed to deals while some are just being brought in for workouts, but none have actually been confirmed by the team yet. Here they are:

Reid, Dorsey: Smith is starter
The Chiefs may have traded up to draft Mahomes, but both coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey made it clear during their press conferences that Alex Smith will be the starting quarterback in 2017. Mahomes still needs time to develop.
Chiefs save money if Jaye Howard signs elsewhere
Following the release of defensive lineman Jaye Howard, we learned that the Chiefs will save $2.5 million in salary cap space if he signs with another team, regardless of when he signs.
Albert Wilson, Cairo Santos sign RFA tenders
The Chiefs hit receiver Albert Wilson and kicker Cairo Santos with restricted free agent tenders, and they both recently signed their deals. Each will be paid $1.797 million in 2017, although none of that money is guaranteed before the season starts.
