Ranking the 10 craziest ballpark foods for the 2017 MLB season

We’re less than a month from Opening Day for the 2017 MLB season, and the new ballpark menus have been set.

Over the past few years, baseball teams have battled for the most outrageous food items. It’s a race that continues into the 2017 season.

Let’s take a look at the 10 craziest food items set to debut at MLB stadiums.

10. Churro “Dessert” Poutine – Toronto Blue Jays

Aramark

Who said crazy had to mean bad? I certainly did not because the Churro “Dessert” Poutine looks absolutely delicious. This treat heading to Rogers Centre includes churros served with vanilla ice cream and warm caramel sauce. Typical poutine has cheese curds and gravy, but this version sounds infinitely better.

9. Taco Dog – Miami Marlins

Levy

It’s a taco AND a hot dog, but is it a sandwich? Who knows — but it looks great. The Taco Dog is a Nathan’s frank topped with chili, pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo, shredded cabbage and jalapeños.

8. Lobster Poutine Stak – Boston Red Sox

Aramark

Lobster at a ballpark? Because, of course. The Lobster Poutine Stak includes fries covered with fresh lobster meat, cheese curds, bisque and chives.

7. Tuna Poke Bowl – Los Angeles Dodgers

Levy

Poke is awesome. And if you want to order raw fish at a ballpark, Dodger Stadium is the place to be. The Tuna Poke Bowl is ahi tuna served in a bowl with vegetables, edamame and a soy dipping sauce.

6. Sunrise Dog – Kansas City Royals

Aramark

There is a hot dog under that, apparently. The Sunrise Dog is a hot dog topped with fried eggs, bacon, cheddar cheese and white sausage gravy. Sounds perfect for those Sunday day games at The K.

5. SPAM Grilled Cheese Sandwich – Houston Astros

Anything with SPAM automatically makes the list. The SPAM Grilled Cheese Sandwich is exactly what it sounds like — a grilled cheese sandwich served with a cut of SPAM on Texas toast.

4. Miami South Beach Dog – Washington Nationals

Levy

Nothing screams South Beach quite like the, uh, Washington Nationals (¯\_(ツ)_/¯). The Miami South Beach Dog is an 18-inch hot dog topped with condiments, pineapple and onion strings, served with a side of french fries. Sounds like a great meal for beach season.

3. Bao to the Pork – Chicago Cubs

Honestly, I just really liked the name of this item. The Bao to the Pork is hickory-smoked pulled pork, Asian sauce, pickled daikon and carrot, cucumbers and jalapeño relish on a steamed bao bun. That’s a championship sandwich right there.

2. Pulled Pork Patty Melt – Kansas City Royals

Yes, this is real. The Pulled Pork Patty Melt is a funnel cake with BBQ pulled pork, fried onion, shredded cheddar, and Monterey Jack cheese WITH bacon, and a jalapeño skewer. That is a lot of food, Royals fans.

1. Chicken Funnel Cake Sandwich – Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks basically lead the league with their crazy ballpark food creations, and that dynasty isn’t going to end in 2017. The Diamondbacks introduced a Chicken Funnel Cake Sandwich, which includes garlic black pepper cheddar, strawberry jam and maple syrup.
