Did Duchess Kate join the black-dress movement at BAFTAs? Sort of ...

Duchess Kate and Prince William attended the BAFTAs on Sunday.

She didn't wear all black, but it looked that way under certain light.

Duchess Kate donned a dark green Jenny Packham gown with a black ribbon at the British Academy Film Awards on Sunday. So it seemed that the royal was sort of dressed in solidarity with British stars who announced they'd wear black for their own version of the Time's Up movement in London. Kate's outfit, and Prince William's traditional tux, seemed safe choices for the royals, who avoid political statements.

Among the attendees wearing black Sunday: Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, Saoirse Ronan, Margot Robbie, Emma Roberts and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

William did allude to the Time's Up movement in a foreword he wrote for the BAFTAs program, according to the Telegraph.

“Levelling the playing field and ensuring a safe, professional working environment for aspiring actors, filmmakers and craft practitioners – regardless of their background and circumstances – is vital to ensure film remains accessible and exciting for all," he wrote.

"As president, I am proud of the leadership BAFTA have shown on this; in a year which rocked the industry as many brave people spoke up about bullying, harassment and abuse despite the risk to their professional careers and reputations.”

The Duchess wore green Jenny Packham to the BAFTAs.

Ahead of the BAFTAs, stars including Kate Winslet, Emma Watson and Naomie Harris published a letter in The Observer that called for an end to sexual misconduct, because 2018 should be "the year that time was up on sexual harassment and abuse." They're among the actresses supporting a fund toward that effort. (Watson has pledged 1 million pounds, according to the GoFundMe website.) Much like stars at Hollywood's Golden Globes did last month, British A-listers chose to wear black at the Sunday awards show to spread awareness of their movement.
