Extremely smart QB Joshua Dobbs has best answer for NFL teams questioning his football IQ

Joshua Dobbs isn’t just one of the quarterback prospects turning heads, he’s also a very, very smart person off the field.

Dobbs’ Tennessee Athletics bio page on its own is amazing. First it lists all the accomplishments and records broken during his four years playing for the Volunteers, then it lists all the impressive awards and honors he earned in high school. At the very end, there’s the personal section that includes this:

MMQB‘s Emily Kaplan also showed how much of a genius Dobbs is with her reporting in her recent column. After noting that he has a relationship with Peyton Manning, Kaplan wrote about how “he dazzled in interviews at the combine,” and then included this amazing bit:

When a few teams at the combine asked Dobbs if he’d be able to handle an NFL playbook, he was incredulous. “My senior year I was taking astronautics, propulsion and an aerodynamics class… all on the same day,” he says. “At the same time as football season when I was leading an SEC team. I think I can handle it.” As he plows through the pre-draft process—Senior Bowl, the combine and private workouts—Dobbs has been chipping away at his senior design project, where he needs to design, build then fly an airplane. He’s six credits shy of graduating. He simply has no time for Are you too smart to play football? inquiries.

If I were him, I would’ve answered that question the same way, or perhaps even in a less polite way. He’s an AEROSPACE ENGINEERING major who is working on designing, building and flying an airplane.

Dobbs can recite 48 digits of pi!!!

C’mon, NFL teams. Don’t question his smarts.
