Alex Rodriguez will be on your TV screen all baseball season long

Fox Sports announced today that Alex Rodriguez will be joining the network as a baseball analyst throughout the season. Previously, Rodriguez served as an analyst solely during the playoffs.

Rodriguez will serve as a studio analyst on Fox and will call select Saturday games from the booth. Last October, Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch broke down how much preparation Rodriguez does to prepare for his time on-air. At the time, Deitsch spoke with Fox Sports vice president of production Bardia Shah-Rais about Rodriguez’s dedication:

I can say after getting to know him over the past two years is that this is not a hobby for him. It’s not a parachute in. He’s invested. If we have a noon meeting, he’s there at 11:30 a.m. He’s emailing story ideas in the morning. He wants research. He’s almost all-in to the point where it’s annoying. I tell him sometimes to trust himself and not worry so much about all his notes. Alex is probably over-prepared and Pete (Rose) makes fun of the fact that Alex has a binder of notes where Pete just comes in and says whatever.

During the postseason last year, Rodriguez and his cohorts went viral discussing the keys to being a great baseball hitter. Rodriguez also seemed to be in love with the profession when he spoke with our own Ted Berg:

“I think there’s a relatability when you’re on TV,” Rodriguez said. “There’s an education process, where people are learning from you and start trusting you. I feel more relatable, more human.”

This is not Rodriguez’s only television gig. The baseball superstar is also filming a new show for CNBC helping ex-athletes in financial trouble.
