Colin Kaepernick gets airplane to donate food, water to drought-ridden Somalia

While Colin Kaepernick’s immediate future in the NFL remains uncertain, he found out Friday that he’s been given a plane to help donate food and water to the needy in Somalia, where there’s a massive drought leaving the East African country struggling to produce food.

The GoFunMe page, as of this posting, has raised nearly $95,000 for the efforts. Donations can be made here.

Kaepernick has been active since the beginning of the offseason, continuing to donate $100,000 each month to organizations across the country championing his protest against racial discrimination and social injustice.

The news come with the backdrop of a report saying NFL executives “genuinely hate” Kaepernick for kneeling during the national anthem last season to draw attention to societal issues. One executive, per the report, said Kaepernick was “an embarrassment to football.”

Good for Kaepernick for donating money, time and energy and further his cause and help people both in the United States and abroad, despite what some around the league may think of his protest last season.
