Ex-Blazers star Cliff Robinson hospitalized with 'minor brain hemorrhage'

Former Portland Trail Blazers All-Star forward Cliff Robinson is still hospitalized with what he revealed to be a "minor brain hemorrhage," but is "in the process of getting better," according to a statement he released Tuesday.

“I want Trail Blazers fans and friends to know I’m doing well and in the process of getting better," Robinson, 50, said. "My family and I appreciate the prayers and well-wishes for my recovery. I had an unfortunate incident with a minor brain hemorrhage which means I’ll be in rehabilitation for a while. But I’m excited about trying to get past this speed bump. I’m improving every day.”

Last Thursday, it was announced that Robinson was hospitalized at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center (Portland) with an undisclosed illness.

Robinson, who the Blazers selected with the 36th overall pick in the 1989 draft, averaged 16.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals during his eight seasons in Portland — all of which ended with a trip to the playoffs. He also played for the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, New Jersey Nets and Golden State Warriors.

He was named Sixth Man of the Year for the 1992-93 season, an All-Star in 1994 and Second Team All-Defense for the 1999-00 and 2001-02 seasons.
