Gonzaga's Jordan Mathews was on 'Teletubbies' as the most adorable 3-year-old basketball star

As Gonzaga prepares for its Elite Eight game against Xavier, an old YouTube clip of Bulldogs senior Jordan Mathews, who made a heroic 3-pointer in their Sweet 16 win, has surfaced on Reddit and blogs around the Internet on Friday. The clip is of the time Mathews, as a 3-year-old, appeared on the kids’ show Teletubbies with his dad.

It’s absolutely adorable, and I’m sure Mathews is thrilled that it has resurfaced.

You may be able to tell from the court that it was filmed at the University of San Francisco. Mathews’ father used to be the coach over there.

A few months ago, when Gonzaga played against USF in San Francisco in that same gym,  Mathews talked to The Spokesman-Review about his Teletubbies appearance (H/T Deadspin):

“It’s going to be weird going back,” Mathews said. “It’s on YouTube. Look up Teletubbies basketball and it’s there. My mom watches it all the time.”

Unfortunately, it appears that that is the only time anyone has ever asked him about the Teletubbies. I really think the show should have him back on again to talk about how he went from a 3-year-old on the show to a senior averaging 10.7 points and 3.3 rebounds on a No. 1 Gonzaga team that’s making a deep run in the NCAA tournament. It’s a fun story.
