Vicious punch leads to massive brawl during DIII basketball game

What was intended to be a well-meaning DIII game between Southern Vermont College and Daniel Webster devolved into a massive brawl, one that forced a forfeit in Daniel Webster’s final ever basketball game and needed 25 police officers to apprehend the situation.

The AP has the story:

Guard Marquise Caudill assaulted a player from the opposing team during the afternoon game and threatened an officer working a security detail who tried to stop him, Nashua authorities said. They also said teammate Antwaun Boyd appeared to be inciting an already hostile crowd that had surrounded the officer.

It continued on to say that Caudill was being held on charges of assault, criminal threatening and disorderly conduct. The game was the last in the school’s history, according to the school’s website.
