Cowboys' Dak Prescott tops Ezekiel Elliott for NFL offensive rookie of the year

USA TODAY Sports
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (21) celebrates with quarterback Dak Prescott (4) after scoring a touchdown in the third quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals at AT&T Stadium.

Score one for Dak Prescott over Ezekiel Elliott.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback defeated his teammate and fellow rookie in being named the NFL's offensive rookie of the year Saturday.

Prescott went on stage at the NFL Honors ceremony to accept the awards with Elliott and remarked, "Do we have a knife to cut this in half?"

“He deserves it just as much as I do from his yards, his catches," Prescott said of his teammate. "The way we handled things in the backfield, it was always together. The defense had to hone in on stopping the running game and it made my job a lot easier.”

Prescott earned 28.5 of the 50 votes, with Elliott picking up the remaining 21.5.

“It’s an honor, one, just to be acknowledged," Prescott said. It was such a great rookie class.”
