Seahawks TE Luke Willson reports from Super Bowl Opening Night

The Seattle Seahawks aren’t in the Super Bowl this year, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t represented in Houston, Texas.

Tight end Luke Willson was in attendance for Opening Night on Monday and tried his hand at reporting.  The Canadian-born Willson appeared on behalf of NFL Canada.

Willson attended Rice University in Houston and said the trip back to Texas was nostalgic.  Willson is staying at the same hotel he shared with his college teammates on the nights before game days.

Selected in the fifth round of the 2013 draft, Willson is one of 14 Seahawks who will become unrestricted free agents in March.

“I’m kind of going into an unknown period,” Willson told reporters the day he cleared out his locker.  “I wouldn’t say I’m afraid, but thankful.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to have a lot of opportunities, but again, I kind of hope it’s here because this is really my family.  I’m not just saying that.

“Love these guys, so it would be tough to leave.”

Willson started six of 11 games played in the 2016 regular season and finished the year with 15 receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
