The Celtics announced a multi-year partnership with GE.

The Boston Celtics announced a multi-year partnership with General Electric on Wednesday, joining the Sacramento Kings (Blue Diamond Almonds) and Philadelphia 76ers (StubHub) as NBA teams that will wear jerseys with logos next season.

The NBA is the first league among the four major sports to allow advertising on regular season uniforms.

According to the Celtics, the partnership with GE will also focus on player performance, injury prevention and business optimization and will center around GE's ability to "provide best-in-class expertise, products and insights across data science, medical equipment, and lighting solutions."

“GE will be woven into the fabric of the Boston Celtics both literally and figuratively," Celtics president Rich Gotham said in a statement. "Their leadership in innovation, analytics, and technology will help us to be as competitive as we can be in everything from optimizing our facilities and equipment to player performance. Simply put, GE will make us a better and smarter basketball team and organization.”

GE moved its global headquarters to Boston in 2016.
