Teammate tries to steal 18-year-old's amazing wonder goal

It’s one of the sports stories that we all love. Tom Davies, an 18-year-old local boy, scored his first league foal for Everton on Sunday against Manchester City.

But that wonderful moment was almost spoilt by Romelu Lukaku.

Davies created the goal from nothing; taking on defenders before playing a one-two with Lukaku only to dink the ball over the keeper for the goal. Breathtaking.

But, just as the ball was about to trickle into the net, Lukaku ran in from nowhere and appeared to tap it in himself.

Now, to be fair, lots of players often score goals this way, and for a very good reason. It’s a bit like continuing to hold the ball even after you cross the plain of the end zone: The most important thing, above all else, is to guarantee the score, not protect who’s goal it may be. The awarded the goal to Davies, but it was a good try from Lukaku, who was clearly trying to add another notch to his belt.

Just a goal-hungry world-class striker doing what he does.
