Student creates Adidas commercial so amazing it deserves to be a real ad

This commercial wasn’t made by Adidas nor — barring a drastic change — will it be used by Adidas. But it really should be.

Student director Eugen Merher of Germany put together this incredible spot that told the story of an aging marathon runner living in a retirement home. He found his old pair of Adidas sneakers, which gave him the motivation to keep running.

Every time he tried to run out of the facility, he had to be restrained by staffers at the facility. At one point, they confiscated his sneakers. It all took an uplifting swing at the end, which made for some brilliant storytelling.

The Huffington Post reached out to Merher about the ad. He tried to get in touch with Adidas, but didn’t hear back.

“We tried sending it to [Adidas’] communications department but they didn’t really react,” Merher, a 26-year-old student at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, told The Huffington Post.

Perhaps Adidas should reconsider because that commercial is perfect. If they do, here’s a list of the talented crew:

Producer – Karli Baumann, Karl Heidelbach
Director of Photography – Mortimer Hochberg
Editor – Ernst Lattik
Music – Alexander Wolf David Sounddesign – Marcus Fass
Sound recording – David Hill
Production Design – Nora Brockamp, Julian Dieterich
VFX – Tim Markgraf
Make-Up – Sandra Untenberger
Production Company – Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg
