Just how much have roller coasters changed over the years? Why not hop on a roller coaster time machine and take a tour of thrill-ride history?

Enter VRtually There, a weekly video series from the USA TODAY network. Using some of the latest state-of-the-art virtual reality technology, they’re giving us a 360 degree first-hand view of the history of roller coaster wizardry at Six Flags Over Georgia in Atlanta.

From the clackity terror of wooden tracks to the smooth flow of steel, from inverted coasters to VR headsets enhancing the thrill, amusement parks have upped their roller coaster game considerably over the years.

Check out the full video below, which also includes an Arizona canyoneering adventure with killer views.
