Too much tech gear? Try out a 30L bag
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. — This time, I tried the bigger bag.
I wrote recently about trying to fit all of my gear into a new backpack for the Consumer Electronics Show, with the Peak Design 20L Everyday Backpack.
But my multiple cameras, microphones, cords, grips, mini-tripods, a drone and laptop were a little too much for the $260 bag. So the folks at Peak, which targets photographers and their heavy gear, asked me to try the more expensive 30L version instead. This bag seems about 30% wider, with the same collection of three inside slots for big gear, two smaller side pockets for cables and microphones, with the laptop slipping in back.
Well, it's packed now, and I'll be wearing it every day at CES. How will my back like it? I'll report the verdict here next week.
The bag currently weighs a very hefty 23 pounds, but the alternative in years past has been carrying multiple bags around the show floor. I think the one bag is going to be better, but we'll see.
Earlier in the week, I did an unboxing and packing video here. In today's update, watch me unpack all that gear out of the bag.
