Your complete fantasy football guide to Week 13

Steve Gardner
USA TODAY Sports

Over the past four weeks, Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers has been the fourth-best fantasy quarterback in the NFL. His unexpected production may have carried his fantasy owners to the brink of making the playoffs.

Largely because of his running ability, San Francisco's Colin Kaepernick has been the second highest scoring quarterback in fantasy over the past four weeks.

Is Kaepernick now a QB1 and worth starting against anyone, including the Chicago Bears on Sunday?

Let's start our weekly roundup by answering that question and more ...

Who should I start?

The most basic question of them all. The best thing to do is check our updated Week 13 rankings, courtesy of FantasySharks.com.

Fantasy football rankings: Week 13

Who’s in?

Andrew Luck. The Indianapolis Colts quarterback returned to practice on Friday and just needs to get the official clearance from an independent neurologist before he can return from his concussion. The Colts play on Monday night, which gives Luck even more time to recover, but also puts fantasy owners in a vulnerable position if he suffers any setback.

-- Paxton Lynch. Denver Broncos starter Trevor Siemian has a foot injury that will keep him out of Sunday's game at Jacksonville. In steps the rookie, who saw action in Weeks 4 and 5, and did a passable job. Still, the Jaguars play pretty good defense so it may be asking a lot for Lynch to keep Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders owners happy. Look for Denver to focus more on the running game with Devontae Booker.

Who’s out?

– Ryan Mathews. For the second consecutive week, Mathews will sit out with a knee injury. Darren Sproles accounted for 54 yards and Wendell Smallwood had 47 in Week 12 vs. Green Bay. They'll divide the workload again at Cincinnati. The matchup isn't as attractive this week.

– Chris Ivory. A hamstring injury he suffered last week will put T.J. Yeldon and Denard Robinson in position to split carries. Yeldon has been nursing an ankle injury of his own, but has been taken off the injured list for Sunday's game. Robinson carried 13 times for 39 yards last week and is worth picking up if you're desperate to fill a hole in your lineup.

Who’s questionable?

-- Marvin Jones. The Detroit Lions wideout has been dealing with hamstring and foot injuries for a good part of the season. Now, he's dealing with a thigh issue. That doesn't bode well in what looks like a very favorable matchup at New Orleans. He had a season-high 11 targets last week, but only four catches for 54 yards.

– Tyrell Williams. Both Williams and Travis Benjamin have been banged up recently, putting Dontrelle Inman as an interesting sleeper play this week as the San Diego Chargers host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Every week, we highlight the top injury concerns fantasy owners are facing. But remember, everything is subject to change, so be sure to make one final check before kickoff.
