Thanksgiving Day 2016 is finally here. And while you may just consider Thanksgiving “a meal” like Will Muschamp, the entire day is filled with sports to keep you fueled all afternoon. Here are the highlights:
Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions, 12:30 p.m., CBS
Who would have thought these two teams would be over .500 and that the winner would take over the lead in the tight NFC North? Me neither.
Temple vs. Florida State, 12:30 p.m., ESPNU
The NIT Season Tip-off action starts with the 25th-ranked Seminoles — with guard Dwayne Bacon, a great name for a food holiday — taking on the Owls.
Illinois vs. West Virginia, 2:30 p.m., ESPNU
The No. 19 Mountaineers face a Fighting Illini squad already off to a 4-1 start.
Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys, 4:30 p.m., FOX
Given the way these two longtime rivals are jawing through the press, you can bet their bulletin boards will be filled with quotes … and that this will be quite a battle between the NFC East foes.
Carolina Hurricanes at Montreal Canadiens, 7:30 p.m., NHL Network
The Habs have lost just four of their 20 games this year. One of the many reasons to tune in.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Indianapolis Colts, 8:30 p.m., NBC
It’s looking very possible Andrew Luck will miss this game with a concussion, which means Scott Tolzien will start for the Colts. Which also means if you happen to take a turkey-induced nap, you may miss some iffy quarterbacking.
Portland vs. UCLA, 11 p.m. ESPN2
If you live on the West Coast, enjoy. For those of you on the East Coast, if you’re not asleep by now, it’ll be a shock.
