Vin Scully makes amazing call as fan on field gets slammed by Giants’ Angel Pagan

Some dumb fans ran around on the field at the Giants-Dodgers game in San Francisco on Friday night. Apparently, they were trying to hand out flowers to the players.

Here, let Vin Scully explain what happened. He does it better than anyone else.

First, Scully says there are “a couple of kids trying to steal the moment, slow down the game, running on the field.”

Next, you can hear fans cheering louder and louder as Scully continues:

“They got one of them in right field, and the other one is nailed down by Pagan in left field. Oh ho, and the crowd loved that. He went up to do something with Angel Pagan, who immediately grabbed him and slammed him to the ground … The crowd really applauding a little law enforcement.”

Yes, that really did happen. The broadcast didn’t show it because they never show fans running on the field, since no one wants the fools getting any more attention, but fans at the game recorded the scene. Pagan took the fan down. He appeared to lure him in, then slammed the kid to the ground.

After that, the broadcast showed an umpire picking up a flower that was dropped by one of the fans, and Scully delightfully says, “Offering a flower, doesn’t that bring you back to the ’60s and the flower children? Oh what? You don’t remember the ’60s? OK.”

As the players prepare to start the game again after that fiasco, Buster Posey is shown chatting with Kiké Hernandez. Scully has something wonderful to say about that too.

“Posey explaining to Kiké Hernandez two guys coming out on the field and offering flowers,” Scully says. “I guess you could say only in San Francisco, maybe.”

After this game, Scully will sadly only call two more games before retiring.
