Trump Twitter rant talks of Miss Universe 'sex tape'

The recent stories about Donald Trump and his comments about former Miss Universe Alicia Machado seem to have finally gotten to the Republican nominee.

Early Friday morning Trump went on a Twitter spree accusing Hillary Clinton of getting Machado citizenship to help Clinton's campaign and suggesting people watch a "sex tape" of the former pageant queen. Machado has endorsed Clinton and has become one of her most prominent surrogates since Monday's presidential debate.

Machado won Miss Universe in 1996. Shortly after the victory she gained weight and Trump called her “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping” — an apparent reference to her Hispanic heritage. Clinton brought up the comments during the debate and Trump appeared to be caught off guard.

Trump has since repeatedly defended the comments — saying he her weight gain was a "real problem" but he saved her job because the organization had wanted her fired. But in the wee hours of Friday morning he exploded on Twitter.

The charge that she has a "sex tape" has been debunked, The fact-checking website Snopes explains that Machado had a racy-but-not-naked scene in a reality TV show. Some pornographic videos have also circulated online featuring an actress who is misidentified as Machado.

Later Friday Trump sought to shut down questions about the early time that the tweets were sent.

John Podesta, Clinton's campaign chairman, shared his advice for Trump Friday morning.

And Clinton weighed in herself calling Trump unhinged with a tweetstorm of her own.
