5 times Iliza Shlesinger's Netflix comedy special was too real

Iliza Shlesinger's 'Confirmed Kills' special is available Sept. 23 on Netflix.

If you enjoyed Amy Schumer's HBO comedy special last year and are looking for more funny female stand-ups to watch, we offer Iliza Shlesinger's Confirmed Kills for your consideration.

Shlesinger, 33, Season 6 winner of Last Comic Standing and host of a forthcoming late-night show on Freeform has a Netflix stand-up special. Here are five times her set-- told via a number of her entertaining voices-- is extremely relatable.

1. That time she described a party goblin.

"Your party goblin sleeps in the back of your brain, and she waits on piles of regrets, and rags and old Tiger Beat magazines," says Shlesinger in one of her most famous bits. "She will awaken when she hears you say, ‘I guess I’ll just come out for one drink.’ (She'll make you) eat that sandwich out of the garbage, then text your ex that you love him and turn your phone off… When party goblin gets you, you wake up on your couch."

2. When she explained the pinnacle of beauty.

"Gentlemen, you need to know this about women: When we get ready, we have a list of things we do to reach our most-attractive point. There is an apex, nay, a pinnacle of beauty that women reach while getting ready. And every minute that you’re late to get us, is one more minute we spend doubting ourselves, (messing) with our makeup, and then we get incrementally uglier as time goes on."

3. When she affirmed that every woman's purse is a black hole.

"You plunge (into the purse), never breaking eye contact with your prey... I mean your date. The constant eye contact being a reminder that, yes, I can multi-task and keep talking, I'll be a great partner," says Shlesinger. "Why are there always Nature's Valley granola bar crumbles at the bottom?...Why can't we make (concealer) with retractable lids that don’t break off? You stick your hand down there unknowingly.. come up with one creamy finger."

4. When she took women's unrealistic goals to the nth degree.

"Always, no matter what your body looks like. We think being skinny is the answer. Not even enough to be thin. You have to be the thinnest of your friends, that you hate," she jokes. "Look at any Instagram photo of four women. It’s a pose-off... You wanna be the kind of thin where your friends are worried for you... I wanna look like the girl on the cover for Les Mis."

5. The time she debunked the mermaid fantasy.

"(I've had it with those) T-shirts that say, 'I am a mermaid.' Let’s discuss the logistics of being a mermaid, so that you have the information and when the job opportunity presents itself on LinkedIn, you can make an informed decision," she says. Some reasons being a mermaid won't pan out: "We don’t have animal-catching accoutrement," "Japanese will eat you just for funsies," "you’re not gonna have long flowing mermaid hair, you gonna have one mer-dread," and swimming like a dolphin all day is like "ab day at the gym."

Of course, Shlesinger's jokes -- including the R-rated ones we couldn't include here -- work much better as part of her larger, 75-minute set that's available for streaming on Netflix now.
