Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has MCL sprain in left knee

USA TODAY Sports
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (3) talks to line judge Sarah Thomas (53) during a time out in a game against the San Francisco 49ers at CenturyLink Field.

An MRI revealed Russell Wilson suffered a sprain in the medial collateral ligament of his left knee, but Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is maintaining an optimistic tone about his quarterback.

Carroll said that Wilson was recovering "exceedingly well" and the current plan is to play him Sunday against the New York Jets.

"He is remarkably well off for having a play like that," Carroll said. "He looks good."

Carroll added that sitting Wilson ahead of the team's Week 5 bye was a consideration but that Wilson was currently "moving around and walking fine." He said how Wilson fares Wednesday and throughout the week in practice would be integral in determining the quarterback's status.

Wilson left the Seahawks' 37-18 win against the San Francisco 49ers in the third quarter when the Seahawks were up 27-3. Wilson had entered the game with a sprained right ankle.
