AP: Cowboys lineman headed to IR

A person with knowledge of the injury says Dallas left guard La’el Collins will be placed on injured reserve with a possible return late in the season because of a right toe injury.

Collins left late in the first half of Sunday night’s 31-17 win over Chicago with a toe injury. Speaking to The Associated Press on Monday on condition of anonymity because details of the injury weren’t released, the person said Collins has a ligament injury on his right big toe.

Putting Collins on IR opens a roster spot for the Cowboys while giving Collins a chance to return to practice in six weeks and play in a game after eight weeks.

Bears RB Langford could miss 4-6 weeks

A sprained ankle could keep Chicago Bears starting running back Jeremy Langford out four to six weeks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bears coach John Fox confirmed Langford's injury Monday but did not say when he might return.

Quarterback Jay Cutler, meanwhile, is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis with a thumb injury.

Seahawks RB Rawls sidelined

With quarterback Russell Wilson suffering from a sprained MCL, the Seattle Seahawks got bad news on the other part of their starting backfield.

Running back Thomas Rawls' injury is more serious than expected, coach Pete Carroll said Monday, and he is expected to miss multiple weeks as his fibula heals.

Christine Michael is expected to continue to carry the running game in Rawls' absence.

Jets add TE

The New York Jets claimed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins on waivers Monday, a person familiar with the move told USA TODAY Sports' Tom Pelissero. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the move was not yet official.

Seferian-Jenkins was arrested and charged with DUI last Friday and was subsequently waived by the Buccaneers.

Through three games, the Jets have not completed a pass to a tight end.

Giants RB could miss significant stretch

New York Giants RB Shane Vereen will require a triceps surgery that could sideline him for much of the season, the team announced Monday. If placed on injured reserve, Jennings would have to miss eight weeks before being eligible to play again.

With running back Rashad Jennings recovering from a thumb injury, the Giants might look to Orleans Darkwa to carry a heavier load in the running game. Bobby Rainey and rookie Paul Perkins could also contribute.

Bryant court battle settled

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant and Texas state Sen. Royce West settled their legal row sparked by damage allegedly done to a house leased by Bryant.

Dallas County district court records show both the original lawsuit filed by West and a counterclaim brought by Bryant had been dismissed. West's lawsuit, which sough $200,000 in damages, was originally filed in June.

Kenneth Broughton, Bryant's attorney, told USA TODAY Sports via text message on Monday that the legal dispute "has been resolved completely."

DeAngelo Hall tears ACL

Washington Redskins defensive back DeAngelo Hall said an MRI confirmed his suspicions: he has the torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.

Hall was forced out of Sunday’s 29-27 victory against the New Giants in the second quarter with what was described as a knee sprain at the time. He told reporters afterward that team medical personnel believed he tore his ACL.

WJLA-TV was the first to report that the MRI confirmed initial diagnosis.

A complete tear of the ACL requires surgery and the typical recovery ranges from six to 12 months.

Hall, 32, is in his ninth season with the Redskins and this was his 13th season in the NFL overall. This is third consecutive season Hall has seen his season cut short due to injury.

Te'o done for season

The San Diego Chargers suffered another significant injury, as inside linebacker Manti Te'o tore his Achille tendon and is done for the season, coach Mike McCoy said Monday.

Te'o, who calls the defenses for the Chargers on the field, will require surgery.

The Charges have already lost, among others, running back Danny Woodhead and wide receiver Keenan Allen to season-ending injuries.
