Alec Baldwin. Harrison Ford. Ben Affleck. Chris Pine. John Krasinski?

John Krasinski, action star, is here to stay.

Yep, you read that right. Jim from The Office has been cast as the next Jack Ryan, this time for a 10-episode, eponymous Amazon series produced by Lost's Carlton's Cuse and Fringe's Graham Roland.

The lanky Office alumnus, 36, who changed our perceptions of him by playing an ex-Navy SEAL in the Benghazi drama 13 Hours, will stay in action-star mode, playing the CIA analyst. This time, Ryan winds up in the field after uncovering a pattern in terrorist communication.

After the demise of the Cold War, the Soviets gave way to terrorists as the go-to bad guys in the Jack Ryan universe.

And though Tom Clancy, the author who created the character, died in 2013, his brand of spy intrigue has outlived him, with movies, video games and now the TV series.

Amazon, which is producing the series with Paramount Television and Skydance Television, brands this Ryan reboot as a "reinvention with a modern sensibility." It will shoot in America, Europe and Africa.

“We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline,” Roy Price, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. “Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content.”

Amazon has not said when to expect the latest iteration of Jack Ryan.
