In honor of White Sox pitcher Chris Sale raging against the uniform machine, we’ve picked out the ugliest uniforms ever worn for every NFL franchise.
NFC East
Dallas Cowboys
Can we talk about how weird the Cowboys primary uniforms have become? We have a navy blue star on the helmet, royal blue numbers and stripes on the jersey and the pants are an odd shade of silver that looks like light blue (almost greenish-blue) during day games.
New York Giants
So. Many. Stripes. And the blue pants are just overkill. Thankfully the Giants haven’t worn them since 1978.
Philadelphia Eagles
Burn these things and let’s act like this never happened.
Washington Redskins
This throwback set, introduced in 2012, was actually pretty cool at first. Then the NFL instituted a rule that prohibited teams from wearing multiple helmets throughout a season, and Washington had to get rid of the faux leather helmet look.
NFC South
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons current design is straight out of the mid-2000s and needs a modern upgrade. The away jerseys with the black pants is the worst look of the bunch.
Carolina Panthers
Carolina has worn only five different uniform combinations in their history, so there’s not a lot of options. We’ll go with their blue alternate uniforms just because they’d look so much better with white or black pants:
New Orleans Saints
New Orleans always looks sharp with their black and gold combo, but the Saints should always wear gold pants.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The alarm clock numbers are just atrocious and especially bad on the white jerseys.
NFC North
Chicago Bears
Let me just set this precedent right now: Any throwback with tan pants is automatically making this list.
Consider yourself lucky, blasphemous orange jersey.
Detroit Lions
Hey, NFL teams, stop ruining your perfectly fine uniforms with black alternates.
Green Bay Packers
Throw in some matching pants and a navy helmet, and you’ve actually got a nice looking set of throwbacks. The tan pants and brown helmet look out of place.
Minnesota Vikings
Just way, way too much going on with this disaster of a design.
NFC West
Arizona Cardinals
How dare you make Kurt Warner wear these terrible red pants.
Los Angeles Rams
Just go back to the royal blue/bright yellow combo already.
San Francisco 49ers
Why?
Seattle Seahawks
There are rumors that Seattle will don an all-neon uniform for their “Color Rush” game in 2016. Your eyes have been warned.
AFC East
Buffalo Bills
Ah, the early 2000s, when sports teams though it would be cool to make all of their colors darker. The Bills did not full commit and left some royal blue on their uniforms, which just makes these look worse.
Miami Dolphins
The drop shadow on the uniform number was a staple of the ’90s, when Miami first debuted their more modern uniforms.
New England Patriots
The Patriots’ current uniform set is pretty bad, but just look at this ill-fated design: The subtle stripes, the drop shadow on the numbers and the oversized logo on the shoulders. Awful.
New York Jets
That one time the Jets wore their New York Titans throwbacks while playing the Tennessee Titans wearing Houston Oilers throwbacks.
Just stick to green.
AFC South
Houston Texans
The Texans do not have a lot of uniform combos to chose from, so we’ll just go with the not-so-terrible “Battle Red” look.
Indianapolis Colts
In the early ’80s, the Colts decided to change their perfect blue and white uniforms by throwing in way too much grey:
Fortunately, the Colts ditched the grey pants after five seasons.
Jacksonville Jaguars
What do you think about these uniforms, cat in a hat?
Same.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans are long overdue for a uniform upgrade. Just do us all a favor and go back the Oilers colors, please.
AFC North
Baltimore Ravens
No explanation needed here.
Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati’s current uniforms are a little too busy, and the white jerseys are, by far, the busiest of the set.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns look like they should be playing in the MAC.
Pittsburgh Steelers
In 2012, the Steelers got rid of a sharp looking set of throwbacks for the bee look.
AFC West
Denver Broncos
Nope.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are another team that hasn’t messed around with its classic uniforms too often, so we’ll just have to go with the all-red look.
Oakland Raiders
There was a dark time when the Raiders did not wear black and silver.
San Diego Charger
Chargers exec 1: Everyone loves our powder blue uniforms; let’s change them!
Chargers exec 2: OK, but only if we can have one shade of blue for the helmet and another for the jersey.
Chargers exec 1: Deal!
