Friday's forecast: High heat West, soggy East
A soggy, humid Friday is on tap for much of the eastern U.S. while hot, dry weather takes hold in the West.
East: Friday will be quite wet for the eastern half of the U.S. Some of the heaviest precipitation will be in the Mid-Atlantic and coastal New England.
South, central U.S.: Storms will also fire up across the lower Mississippi Valley and southern Plains throughout Friday.
West: Thanks to an upper-level ridge of high pressure continuing to sit over the western U.S., temperatures should be 5 to 15 degrees above average on Friday. A few monsoon storms will hit the Southwest.
