Baylor football player arrested, charged with stalking
Baylor offensive lineman Rami Hammad was arrested on Monday and charged with stalking, a felony, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by the Waco Tribune-Herald.
A female student told police about several incidents of physical abuse involving Hammad.
According to the affidavit, Hammad was following the woman and waited for her outside a class, leading her to ask for a professor's help escorting her from the class. The professor proceeded to call 911 because they feared for their safety after Hammad followed both of them to the professor's office.
Baylor's strict conduct code may have silenced rape victims
Hammad told police he wanted to talk to the victim in an attempt to mend their troubled relationship, which ended in early May, according to the woman. She called Hammad "manipulative" and "persuasive" and said she blocked his calls among other measures to cut off communication. She said she was concerned for his mental health and that he contemplated suicide.
Hammad transferred to Baylor from Texas in 2014 and played 13 games as a sophomore in 2015. Baylor has suspended Hammad from all team activities.
Despite uncertainties, Mack Rhoades says Baylor will get it right
