Clemson picked to repeat as ACC champs

USA TODAY Sports

Clemson is the pick to repeat as the Atlantic Coast Conference football champion, as voted by members of the media who cover the league.

Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney talks with quarterback Deshaun Watson during the ACC Football Kickoff at Westin Charlotte.

Clemson went 14-1 last season, narrowly falling in the national title game of the College Football Playoff to Alabama. The Tigers, who were first on 144 of 191 ballots to beat out Florida State, were also picked to win the Atlantic Division, while North Carolina was predicted to repeat as winner of the Coastal Division. Clemson beat the Tar Heels, 45-37, in last year's ACC title game.

ACC has Playoff potential in Florida State, Clemson or maybe even both

Clemson junior signal caller Deshaun Watson, a preseason Heisman Trophy candidate, was the easy choice to repeat as the ACC's player of the year. The dual-threat quarterback became the first player in FBS history last season to throw for more than 4,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a single season.
