Joe Perry recovers, will return to tour
Guitarist Joe Perry will return to the Hollywood Vampires tourFriday following a recent health scare, according to the band's publicist.
"Joe Perry rejoins the Hollywood Vampires July 22," band publicist Sujata Murthy said in a statement to USA TODAY.
Bandmate Alice Cooper tweeted the news first. "Joe is back!" Cooper wrote Thursday afternoon. "@JoePerry returns to the @hollywoodvamps tour tomorrow, 7/22 & will be with us thru the end!"
Perry, 65, will reunite with bandmates Cooper and Johnny Depp on Friday in Rohnert Park, Calif. at Weill Hall. The tour wraps July 25 in Paso Robles, Calif., where the band will play at the state fair.
The legendary Aerosmith guitarist, who plays in the Hollywood Vampires as a side project, was hospitalized July 10 after leaving the stage during a Vampires concert at the Ford Amphitheater in Brooklyn's Coney Island. A concert video posted on social media showed an ill Perry sitting down on the drum riser during a song before making his way off the stage.
The Vampires continued the tour while Perry recovered.
The band's publicist did not elaborate on Perry's condition.
